Ellis Credle (1902–1998) was an American writer renowned for her children's books, including the acclaimed 'Down Down the Mountain' (1934). In her later years, she lived in Mexico, where she wrote many of her later tales. Credle's writing was noted for its inspirational quality, although some stories sparked controversy due to their portrayal of African Americans.
