Ellen D. Jorgensen (born 2 June 1955) is a molecular biologist based in New York who is a prominent advocate for the do-it-yourself biology movement. She aims to enhance scientific literacy among the general public, particularly focused on molecular and synthetic biology. Jorgensen is a co-founder of Biotech Without Borders and Genspace, two organizations that promote accessible biotechnology. In recognition of her contributions, she was named one of the Most Creative Leaders in Business by Fast Company in 2017.
