Elizabeth Choy Su-Moi OBE was a Singaporean war heroine of Hakka-Chinese descent, born on November 29, 1910, in Kudat, Sabah. During World War II, she was imprisoned by the Japanese for 200 days and later recognized as a war hero in Singapore. In 1951, she became the first and only woman to join the Legislative Council. After her political career, she worked as a teacher at a blind school. Elizabeth Choy passed away at the age of 95 from cancer, having refused treatment, saying she was ready 'to go to heaven.'
