Elisa Maria Costa is a Brazilian politician from the Workers' Party (PT), born on August 28, 1958, in João Neiva. She served two terms as a city councilor in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, and was elected to the state parliament. A civil engineer by training, she began her political career in church, student, and union movements. Notably, she contributed to the implementation of Bolsa Família. On October 5, 2008, she became the first female mayor of Governador Valadares, winning with 49.09% of the votes.
