Elena Oskarovna Marttila (1923–2022) was a Russian painter with Finnish heritage, recognized for her poignant sketches of the Siege of Leningrad and the Road of Life, featured in Michael K. Jones's book 'Leningrad: State of Siege.' Born in Petrograd, she served as a nurse during the Siege and pursued her artistic education at the Repin Institute of Arts, graduating in 1941. After the war, she continued her studies at the Tavricheskaya Art School, eventually becoming an art teacher and graphic designer. In her later years, she lived in Finland until her passing at 99.
