Ekkehard Völkl (April 1, 1940 – February 3, 2006) was a German historian known for his work in Eastern and Southeastern European history. He earned his Ph.D. in 1968 with a dissertation on Russia and Latin America at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. He became a professor of history at the University of Regensburg in 1979 and published a synthesis on Romanian history in 1995. Notably, his family includes his father Georg Völkl, an educator, and his daughter Katrin Boeckh, who is also a historian.
