Einar Sverre Nistad (1932–2011) was a Norwegian retailer known for founding the shopping chain Mekka in 1967. The first Mekka store was in Skostredet, Bergen, and by 1975, he had expanded to four stores. By 1992, Mekka had a significant market share of 25% in Bergen. In 1993, Nistad sold Mekka to Hakon-Gruppen for approximately 300 million kr. He subsequently invested the revenue in various companies, which led to the formation of Nistad Gruppen, later taken over by his daughter. Einar Nistad passed away in 2011.
