Eiichirō Yamamoto was a Japanese professional baseball player born on March 8, 1902, and he passed away on December 15, 1979. He served as captain for Japan's first professional baseball team, the Nippon Sports Association, and later joined the Tokyo Giants (now known as Yomiuri Giants). Primarily a pitcher, he was a right-hand thrower and batter and played almost all positions except catcher. Known for his fondness for rice cakes, he was affectionately nicknamed 'Babu-san' by his teammates.
