Egil Nygaard Brekke (January 23, 1921 – March 24, 2000) was a Norwegian historian. He earned his doctorate in 1959 with a thesis on the origins of the Sverre saga, investigating its completion date and author. He proposed that the saga was finalized around 1204–07 in Trøndelag by Karl Jonsson, a claim contested by historians such as Hallvard Lie and Johan Schreiner. Brekke also contributed to the Cultural Historical Encyclopedia for Nordic Medieval History.
