Edward Marzec (1914-1962) was a Polish writer and a prominent figure in the people's movement. He served as the Deputy Minister of Culture and Art between 1957 and 1958. Marzec is known for his poetry collection 'Wnuczek orze' and the novel 'Słońce wschodzi', which explores the life of the Polish countryside. He was born in Jakubowice and is buried in the Military Cemetery in Powązki, Warsaw. A local community center in his hometown is named after him.
