Edward Constantin Laufer (1938–2014) was a Canadian music theorist, composer, and teacher known for his contributions to music education and theory. Born in Zürich, he moved to Canada in 1939. Laufer studied at the University of Toronto, Princeton University, and Juilliard, where he learned from notable composers and theorists. He held teaching positions at several institutions, including Smith College and SUNY Purchase, and became a faculty member at the University of Toronto. His scholarly work includes publications in respected music journals and presentations across North America and Europe.
