Edward Joseph Barrett, born on August 14, 1943, is a retired flag officer in the United States Coast Guard. He held the position of chief of systems of the Coast Guard from 1996 to 1999. Barrett is also known as the grandfather of Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who gained notoriety for leaking classified information.
