He played varsity tennis at Princeton University and achieved a notable fourth round finish at the 1959 U.S. National Championships, where he lost to sixth-seed Luis Ayala. After his tennis career, Dailey became an ophthalmologist and founded Dailey Harvey Eye Associates in Camp Hill, contributing to his field until his passing on July 2, 2018.
