Eduardo Alarcão was a Portuguese painter born on January 10, 1930, and passed away in February 2003. His work, comprising over five hundred pieces, captures the essence of Portuguese traditions with a modernist perspective, often depicting urban life and typical scenes. Alarcão frequently distorted or elongated forms in his paintings due to extensive studies of various art movements. From 1978 to 1992, he intensely explored Naivism, particularly culminating in his works on Marchas Populares. In 2004, UNICRE issued a limited serigraph edition to commemorate his first death anniversary.
