Édouard Castonguay was a Québécois country musician, composer, and performer, noted as a pioneer of the genre in Quebec. His career spanned five decades, starting with his first recording in 1956. He worked as a lumberjack while pursuing music until the 1970s when he began performing full-time. He formed the Castonguay Family with his wife Anita and their sons, who are multi-instrumentalists. Castonguay received nominations at the ADISQ Gala and was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2006 from cancer.
