R.P. Karl Edmund Prier, SJ (1937-2024) was a German Jesuit Catholic priest who served in Indonesia. He began piano lessons at the age of nine and pursued studies in philosophy in Munich. After teaching music at Stella Matutina College in Austria, he became a Jesuit novice after reading about a missionary's journey in the Eskimo wilderness. Prier arrived in Indonesia in 1964 and established the Liturgical Music Center in Yogyakarta. He was seriously injured in an attack during mass in 2018 and passed away at 86 in Yogyakarta, being buried at the Jesuit priests' cemetery.
