Following his death in 2022, disturbing evidence was found by his nephew, revealing decades of sexual contacts with children. An inquiry reported that between 1961 and 2018, Dillinger sexually abused 19 individuals, with 11 victims identified by name. The church's negligence in addressing these allegations has been criticized as a deliberate cover-up to protect its reputation.
