Edgar Herbert Smith Jr. (1934 – 2017) was an American convicted murderer involved in a high-profile case after the killing of 15-year-old Victoria Ann Zielinski in 1957. He was sentenced to death but later persuaded conservative commentator William F. Buckley Jr. of his innocence. After a series of legal battles, his conviction was vacated in 1971, leading to his release. However, he reoffended by attempting to kill another woman five years later, during which he admitted guilt in the Zielinski case. He spent the remainder of his life in prison until his death in 2017.
