He is a member of the Nieuw Sociaal Contract (NSC) party and has served as the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment since July 2, 2024, in the Schoof cabinet. Prior to this, he was a member of Parliament for the NSC from December 6, 2023, to July 2, 2024, and held several positions with the CDA, including member of the Provincial Council of Overijssel from 2015 to 2019.
