Eddy Dap was a Surinamese educator, politician, and social worker known for his contributions to education and community in the Netherlands. A member of the Ndyuka marron people, he taught for 15 years in Suriname before moving to the Netherlands in 1967. There, he became pivotal in social work among Surinamese communities. Dap also advocated for opposition against the Bouterse regime during the dictatorship in Suriname and coordinated humanitarian aid during the internal conflict. He founded the Welzijnsstichting voor Surinamers in Tilburg and received notable awards, including being made a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
