DT. B. Nurdin Yakob was a prominent writer from Solok, West Sumatra. He authored various works, including novels, short stories, children's books, and writings on Minangkabau culture and folklore. His educational journey included HIS, MULO, AMS, culminating at the Jakarta Institute of Journalism and General Education, graduating in 1942. Nurdin began his career as a journalist in 1950 and also taught at various high schools in Bukittinggi, eventually serving as the director of SMA Negeri Padangpanjang until his retirement in 1980.
