Drago Perko is a Slovenian geographer born on April 2, 1961, in Kranj. He attended elementary school in Kranj from 1968 to 1976 and completed his secondary education in 1980. He graduated in geography from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana in 1985, earned his master's degree in 1989, and obtained his doctorate in 1993 with a dissertation on the relationship between relief and population movement from 1880 to 1981. He has been employed at the Anton Melik Geographical Institute since 1986, serving as its head from 1994 to 2018.
