Douwe Annes Tamminga was a Dutch writer born in 1909 and known for his contributions to Frisian literature. He is considered one of the great poets and writers of this literary tradition. From 1946 to 1968, he played a significant role in the literary magazine De Tsjerne and translated works by notable authors like Hans Christian Andersen, Edgar Allan Poe, and Dylan Thomas into Frisian. Tamminga was also a member of the Fryske Akademy and received several literary awards during his career.
