Douglas Arnold Hyde was an English political journalist and writer, born on 8 April 1911 in Worthing, Sussex. Initially a communist, he served as the news editor for the Daily Worker but resigned in 1948 after converting to Catholicism. He became a noted critic of communism during the late 1940s and 1950s. Hyde's most renowned work, 'I Believed', achieved significant financial success, aided by MI6, with secret funding from the UK's Information Research Department for anti-Soviet propaganda. He passed away on 19 September 1996.
