Douglas Dias-Jayasinha was a notable Ceylonese cricketer and cricket administrator, born on May 11, 1915, in Galle. He captained Mahinda College's cricket team from 1934 to 1936 and was one of the first from southern Ceylon to represent All-Ceylon in 1937 against New Zealand and in 1945 against India. A versatile player, he was a left-hand batsman and a useful bowler and slip fielder. From 1961 to 1973, he served as a national selector, including a decade as chairman. He passed away at the age of 90 on April 29, 2006.
