Dorret Boomsma, born on November 18, 1957, in Huizen, Netherlands, is a Dutch biological psychologist specializing in genetics and twin studies. She developed a database containing over 75,000 twins in the Netherlands. Her research findings cover a wide range of behavioral traits, including the significant genetic component of feelings of loneliness, the higher IQ of first-borns compared to their younger siblings, and the increasing influence of genetics on body weight as children age. In 1985, she received the Thomson Prize from the Behavior Genetics Association.
