She initiated the Dorcas Drake Christmas Party and Toy Drive, providing gifts to needy children each holiday season from 1957 to 1993, impacting an estimated 50,000 children. After her death, her daughter continued the tradition until 2003. Drake was recognized for her contributions to the community, receiving honors from The Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women. She passed away at the age of 77.
