John Donald Merrett, also known by the pseudonym Ronald Chesney, was a British murderer born on August 17, 1908. Notably, in 1926, he shot his mother after she discovered his check forgery. Initially ruled a suicide by forensic pathologist Bernard Spilsbury, he was acquitted. Changing his name to Ronald Chesney, he gained notoriety as an international black market dealer. In 1954, he murdered his wife and mother-in-law due to an affair and subsequently committed suicide before being arrested in Cologne.
