Dirk Jan (Dick) van der Zaag is a Dutch politician from the ARP and later the CDA, born on December 23, 1945, in Grijpskerk. He studied economics at university and became an economics and mathematics teacher in 1970. Subsequently, he worked at the Drents Economic-Technical Institute and served as a municipal councilor in Groningen. Van der Zaag was the mayor of Zuidhorn from 1977 to 1984, then mayor of Vriezenveen, and from May 1993 until his retirement on December 1, 2010, he was the mayor of Goes.
