He started his career with the Birmingham Black Barons and played for the Cleveland Cubs before returning to Birmingham. Born on August 17, 1907, in Adams County, Mississippi, Pipkins left a mark in the world of baseball, playing during a pivotal time in the sport’s history. He passed away on March 17, 1975, at the age of 67.
