Dessie O'Hare, born on 26 October 1956, known as 'The Border Fox', is a prominent figure in Irish republican paramilitarism. Originally a member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), he switched to the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) in the late 1970s after leaving the IRA due to disciplinary issues. O'Hare gained notoriety for his criminal activities, notably kidnapping a dentist in 1987. He was imprisoned for this crime until 2006, when he was granted temporary release.
