Derek Stanford FRSL (1918–2008) was a British writer recognized for his contributions as a biographer, essayist, and poet. Educated at Upper Latymer School, he was a conscientious objector during World War II and edited a single-issue poetry magazine in 1946. Working with Muriel Spark in the 1950s, he became a notable supporter and later wrote about Dylan Thomas. Known for his literary associations, he is featured in Spark's work. Stanford passed away in 2008 at the age of 90 and was married to the poet Julie Whitby.
