Derek Huggins was a prominent gallerist from Zimbabwe, originally from Kent, England. He moved to Rhodesia in the 1950s, where he served in the police force, reaching the rank of Detective Inspector. In 1975, he and his wife opened Gallery Delta, which focused on promoting contemporary painting. Huggins played a key role in the Zimbabwean art scene as the founding director of the National Arts Council, managing the gallery until his death in July 2021.
