Dennis Puleston (1905-2001) was a prominent British-American environmentalist known for his instrumental role in banning the pesticide DDT in the U.S., helping to protect the osprey from extinction. He co-founded the Environmental Defense Fund and served as its first chairman. Puleston was also an adventurous designer, known for co-developing the DUKW, an amphibious vehicle used during World War II. His contributions have had a lasting impact on the environmental movement in North America.
