Dennis Vernon Dold Lacey (1919-1942) was a South African flying ace during World War II, credited with 5 aerial victories and 2 probables. Born in Rhodesia and raised in Cape Town, he joined the South African Air Force in 1940. Lacey served in 2 Squadron SAAF and later in 6 and 5 Squadrons, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross. He was promoted to Officer Commanding in 1942 but tragically died in action on August 7, 1942, when his aircraft was shot down.
