She has degrees from the University of Alberta and Queen's University and taught design at Humber College North. Burford published her first book in 1977 and has participated in storytelling and workshops globally. Focusing on environmental themes since the 1980s, she contributed to children's education and continues to create Visionary 'Dream Wheels' while residing on Vancouver Island.
