David Stenfert Kroese was a soldier in the Prinses Irene Brigade who died during the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945. On March 9, along with two companions, he traveled on a motorcycle from Domburg to Oostkapelle over a path that contained anti-tank mines. The overloaded motorcycle triggered an explosion, resulting in the immediate death of Stenfert Kroese and his companions Theo Burger and Rudolf Vermeulen. He is buried at the Militair ereveld Grebbeberg in Rhenen.
