David Sharples is a retired priest, born on 17 March 1958. He served as Archdeacon of Rochdale and was previously Archdeacon of Salford. After studying at King's College London and the College of the Resurrection in 1983, he held a curacy at St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich. He was then Vicar of St Anne's, Royton from 1987 to 2002 and became Director of Ordinands for the Anglican Diocese of Manchester in 2002. Sharples is a Manchester City supporter, married, and has two sons. He is set to retire on 31 March 2024.
