David Sharpe (1947-1987) was an American drummer and marimba player known for his contributions to funk, rock, jazz, and fusion music. Initially part of the Boston music scene, he played with the Modern Lovers starting in 1975 and was a member of the Carla Bley Band from 1977 to 1983. Sharpe's work features on various albums, including those by Carla Bley. He was honored in tribute pieces by Tom Varner and Bob Moses.
