David James Schwendeman was an influential American taxidermist known for being the last full-time chief taxidermist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Serving from 1959 to 1988, he played a vital role in mounting and designing numerous specimens for the museum's renowned exhibits, including the halls dedicated to North American animals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.
