David Norman Pegler is a British mycologist born on November 2, 1938. He served as the Head of Mycology at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew until 1998. Pegler earned his BSc, master's, and PhD from London University, focusing on tropical Agaricales and East African fungi. He has published over 250 research papers and several books on fungal systematics, and has a number of fungal taxa named in his honor. He was the senior editor for the journal Mycologist from 1987 to 1993.
