He co-founded the Soul City record label and was a contributing editor for Blues & Soul magazine in the 1960s and 1970s. Living in the US from 1975 to 2009, he wrote biographies and articles and founded soulmusic.com. He has also performed as a jazz and blues singer under his own name and the alter ego Nefer Davis.
