Kinloch has served as a teacher of French literature and language and founded a poetry magazine called Verse. He has published five poetry collections, with his latest being 'Finger of a Frenchman' in 2011. His contributions have earned him numerous awards, including the Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial Award and a Scottish Arts Council scholarship.
