David F. Karnosky was an American forest ecologist born on October 12, 1949, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and he passed away on October 24, 2008, in Chassell, Michigan. He studied forestry at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1975. Karnosky served as a professor of forest genetics and biotechnology at Michigan Technological University. He collaborated with esteemed ecologists, including Olevi Kull, Jaak Sõber, Anu Sõber, and Asko Noormets from Estonia.
