David Harker was an influential American medical researcher known for pioneering X-ray techniques to analyze cell structure. He developed Harker–Kasper inequalities in collaboration with John S. Kasper and made significant contributions to chemical crystallography. Among his achievements was solving the structure of ribonuclease A, a landmark in protein crystallography. Harker was associated with prestigious institutions such as the National Academy of Sciences and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. He received the Gregori Aminoff Prize in 1984 for his research, which later focused on mathematical aspects of crystallography.
