David G. Perkins is a retired General of the United States Army, who served as the commander of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980 and held various leadership roles, including Commander of the 2nd Brigade during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is known for advocating a bold strategy during the Iraq War that led to the capture of Baghdad. Perkins also commanded the 4th Infantry Division and the Combined Arms Center before his retirement in 2018.
