David Dicks is an Australian sailor born on October 6, 1978. He gained fame for being the youngest person to sail solo and non-stop around the world in 1996. Dicks departed from Fremantle, Australia on February 26, 1996, and returned on November 17, 1996, at the age of 18 years and 41 days. He sailed aboard a vessel named Seaflight, an S & S 34, which has also been used by other notable sailors. For his achievements, he received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1999 and the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
