David Berkowitz, born in 1953 in Brooklyn, is an American serial killer. He gained infamy for his series of murders in the 1970s, which created widespread panic in New York City. Berkowitz was known for using a .44 caliber revolver and taunted police and the public with letters detailing his crimes. He was arrested in 1977 and later confessed to the killings, becoming a notorious figure in American crime history.
