David Ayalon (1914 - June 25, 1998) was an Israeli historian specialized in the history of Islam and the Middle East, particularly known for his work on the Mamluk ruling families in Egypt. He gained prominence in Israel for co-authoring the Arabic-Hebrew dictionary in 1947, which contributed to the understanding of Arabic language and culture within the region.
