David Stout Stogner (1920–1989) was a renowned American musician recognized as the 'West Coast King of Western Swing.' He relocated to California to build a musical career, influenced by Milton Brown. Best known for his band, The Western Rhythmaires, Stogner hosted a show at the Big Fresno Barn Dance for over a decade. With a unique sound often described as 'hard driving hillbilly,' he wrote and co-wrote several hits, including 'Hard Top Race' in 1953. He was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in 1988.
